New York City Tourism in a Blink

New York City is the largest city in the United States and by far, the home of world famous tourist attractions. Just think about the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Central Park just to name a few. These are just a few of the reasons why millions of tourists visit the city annually. Therefore it is considered a sin if you just stay in your New York hotel room and don't go out to see the wonderful things the Big Apple can offer you.

First things first, finding a New York hotel should be at the top of your list if you are planning of visiting the city. Almost every New York hotel is jam packed during the peak seasons such as Christmas and summer. The trick is you should book for a hotel room months in advance. Or you can just go and visit during off peak seasons. It is also a good thing because there will be less people visiting the major tourist destinations.

Now that you have settled yourself with a nice and cozy New York hotel, let's go take a look at some of the top tourist attractions New York City has in store for you.

1. The Statue of Liberty

This iconic structure was a gift from the government of France to the United States in 1886. It stands on Liberty Island and seems to be welcoming people into the city.

2. The Empire State Building

Constructed in 1931, the 102-storey Empire State Building is the tallest building in New York City. It offers a commanding view of the whole city and millions of people visit its viewing decks every year. It is often lighted in varying colors to commemorate an important event. And if you are in top shape, there is an annual stair climbing contest where contestants race each other to the 86th floor of the observation deck.

3. Central Park

Another good reason to go out of your New York hotel room is the Central Park. Covering about 843 acres, Central Park is a public, urban park that is annually visited by an estimated 25 million people. You can have a relaxing picnic under the trees or you can opt to have a tour around the park while riding a carriage horse.

4. Madison Square Garden

"The World's Greatest Arena", the Madison Square Garden, or simply The Garden, has been the top venue for major concerts as well as sporting events such as boxing and basketball. It is the home of the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). It holds an average of 320 events annually.

These are just the top four tourist destinations that any New York City visitor should see. Some other important places of interest are the five Borroughs where each has its own culture. People actually go to the Borroughs to experience the diversity of the place. So no matter how good your New York hotel can be, it is always a great experience to go out and see the city.
