New York is a city that has built a reputation for incomparable American experiences and holidays over the years. The fast and action packed city is well known for its various thriving creative scenes, from art and fashion to entertainment, and is extremely influential in commerce and finance too.

New York City is the largest city in the state of New York and is considered one of the world's leading cities due to the considerable power and cultural sway it holds globally. Comprising of five distinct boroughs, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island, New York City is located on the Atlantic coast and boasts a higher population than anywhere else in the United States.

Travellers to New York City are instantly immersed in the thriving excitement proffered by the city and opportunities for entertainment are manifold. From the thousands of established and breakthrough bands that take to the stage every year to the excellent art exhibitions found at world famous galleries such as the Guggenheim, there's truly something for all culture-hungry visitors to the city.

Another aspect that frequently draws sightseers to New York City is its iconic skyline. Best known for its skyscrapers, the buildings of New York create a dramatic backdrop to any day and night in the city and the sheer number of impressive buildings are second only to the sky-scraping extravaganza that is Hong Kong. This ensures that whatever trips to New York are intended to entail, be it business or pleasure, visitors will be left with fantastic memories of its charming skyline.

But New York isn't all about the architecture, not everyone knows that the city features over 28,000 acres of parkland and 14 miles of public beaches too. This means that an escape to chill out and reconnect with nature without having to leave the urban fun far behind is more than possible on holidays in New York.

Of course, a trip to New York for the theatre lover means a trip to Broadway. The famous strip of theatres along New York's 42nd street is a sight to behold and the musical shows found there are even better. Fans of other forms of theatre needn't worry however, as all forms of performing arts are rife in the city meaning that anything from ballet to jazz performances can be soaked up on any given night.

The fairly compact size of the city belies the sheer number of people and attractions it contains, this is great for travellers as not only does it mean they will find it easy to explore the city but it also means that New York hotels are generally perfectly placed at the centre of the action.
